The Nashville Recreation Center opened in July 1, 2024. This facility features a large multi-purpose room to house a variety of programs for all ages.
This facility is available to be reserved by the public for events such as birthday parties, baby showers, meetings, etc. during times that the facility is not in use. Downtown Nashville Barn Quilt Wall Building Nashville’s story—one quilt block at a time. The Downtown Nashville Barn Quilt Wall is a unique public art project located at the Nashville Recreation Center that celebrates our community, our heritage, and the timeless tradition of barn quilt artistry. Officially launched in June 2025, the Barn Quilt Wall was made possible through initial funding from the Municipal Service District (MSD).
Since then, it has continued to grow through the support of local businesses, civic organizations, churches, families, and individuals who have chosen to become a lasting part of Nashville’s story. The most recent expansion was completed in July 2026, and additional quilt blocks will continue to be added as new sponsors join the project. Each 2’ × 2’ quilt block is hand-painted by a local artist in the style of traditional barn quilts. While every design is unique, all reflect the rich folk-art tradition that has become a cherished part of rural communities across America. Together, these colorful blocks create a one-of-a-kind display that represents the people, organizations, and community spirit that make Nashville special. More than a beautiful art installation, the Barn Quilt Wall is an investment in our community. Proceeds beyond project costs help fund capital improvements at Stoney Creek Environmental Park, allowing each new quilt block to support future recreation and community enhancements. Whether you’re visiting Nashville for the first time or have called it home for years, we invite you to stop by the Barn Quilt Wall, enjoy the artwork, and watch it continue to grow for generations to come.
Project Timeline June 2025 The Downtown Nashville Barn Quilt Wall officially debuted with its first collection of hand-painted quilt blocks, marking the beginning of a community-driven public art project. July 2026 The wall expanded with a second installation, welcoming additional community sponsors and continuing the vision of creating a vibrant display that tells Nashville’s story. Looking Ahead The Barn Quilt Wall will continue to grow as new quilt blocks are added over time. Become part of Nashville’s story by sponsoring a quilt block on the Downtown Nashville Barn Quilt Wall. For $150, individuals, businesses, civic organizations, churches, and families can sponsor a 2’ × 2’ hand-painted quilt block. Each block is painted by a local artist and installed in the order sponsorships are received. Designs follow traditional barn quilt patterns, preserving the authenticity and folk-art charm of the project.
