Employment Opportunities

The Town of Nashville is a full-service municipality offering career opportunities in a wide array of areas including: Public Safety, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Finance, Planning, Library Services, Administration, and Human Resources. All job openings will be posted on our career page as positions become available.

The Town only accepts applications for vacant positions. Applications must be submitted online by the closing time and date posted. When a position is listed as “open until filled,” apply right away as the position may close without notice.

Online Applications

The Town only accepts online applications through the Town's career page.

For those without access to a computer, the Harold D. Cooley Library, located at 114 W. Church Street, offers work stations that may be used. The Library's hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays (with the exception of Town holidays).

Resumes by themselves do not qualify as an application, however a resume may be attached to a completed application. Please note that some positions may require an additional questionnaire, which will be included with the application.

Giving false information or omitting facts on an application may result in a rejected application or in dismissal, if employed.

Screening and Referral of Applicants

The Town of Nashville is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, marital status, age, disability, or genetic information.

Education, experience, work record, work quality, and certifications will be taken into consideration when reviewing applicants, and although your experience may meet the minimum qualifications, there may be candidates who possess the equivalent or greater skill sets who will also be considered. Thus, not every candidate who meets the minimum requirements may be offered an interview.

Eligibility

All new hires must submit proof of identity and eligibility. All positions will require pre-employment drug testing.

In addition, some positions will require more pre-screenings that can include any of the following:

  • Background check
  • Physical fitness exam
  • DOT testing
  • Exams

Probationary Period

Employees are subject to a probationary period. Department Head, Police Personnel, and Fire Personnel will have a one-year probationary period; all other positions will have a six-month probationary period. The probationary period will successfully end if performance and conduct meet standards. Employment may also be terminated at any time during the probationary period.
