Employee Benefits

All full-time employees of the Town of Nashville are eligible for employee benefits as listed below. Part-time employees may be eligible for certain benefits, depending on the average number of hours worked per week over a year.

 

Paid Time Off

The Town of Nashville offers paid holidays following the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources Calendar.

Vacation

The Town of Nashville provides paid vacation for you to be away from work for rest and relaxation. Vacation is earned on an accrual basis and accrual amount increases based on years of service. For those who have time in the LGERS system from previous employment, years of service from previous employment will be applied towards your accrual rate.

 Sick Leave

The Town of Nashville provides sick leave which is earned at one day per month (12 days per year).

Floating Holidays

The Town of Nashville provides two floating holidays to be used to celebrate additional holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Insurance coverage

Medical Insurance is provided through our participation in the State Health Plan. The Town pays a substantial portion of medical insurance coverage.

Dental and Vision insurance is provided through our partnership with Mutual of Omaha. Base plans are covered 100% by the Town for employee only coverage.

The Town also provides a $10,000 life insurance policy on Town employees a $0 cost to the employee. 

Teledoc

TheTeledoc Benefit(PDF, 1MB) is provided to employees and their dependents (even if not covered on our medical plan) coverage at no cost to the employee.

Teledoc provides 24/7 access to a health care professional who can diagnosis and treat minor medical issues via a video call or phone call.

Retirement

The Town of Nashville participates in the North Carolina Local Governmental Employee's Retirement System (LGERS). Law Enforcement and Fire Department personnel also have additional benefits under the pension system such as reduced early retirement.

401(k) supplemental retirement benefits are provided to all full-time employees with no employee contribution required. The Town of Nashville contributes 3% of an employee's salary if they are a general employee and contributes 5% for law enforcement employees.

457(b) supplemental retirement benefits are also available for all employees. The Town does not contribute to this plan on behalf of the employees

Voluntary Benefits

We partner with Municipal Benefits, Inc. to offer voluntary benefits to our employees. Plans include Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Cancer, Critical Illness, Accident, and Life Insurance.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are available for medical spending and dependent care. A Flexible Spending Account is a tax-free account that allows you to pay for essential health care expenses such as medicine, medical copays, dependent care, vision expenses etc. 

Other Important Benefits

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP counseling services are provided to employees and their dependents for confidential assistance in handling family issues, emotional, stress-related, drug and alcohol, and legal problems.

Credit Union

Town of Nashville Employees are eligible to join Civic Federal Credit Union.

Tuition Assistance

The Town of Nashville offers assistance to employees who wish to further their education in job related studies. An employee may receive financial assistance up to $1,000 per fiscal year for courses related to their career.

Worker's Compensation

All Town of Nashville employees are covered under the North Carolina Worker's Compensation Act.
