Information on how the citizens of Nashville can help to protect our water resources from pollution has been added to the Town’s website.  Because the majority of the Town’s drinking water is obtained from the Tar River, and the stormwater that runs across our streets and in our ditches eventually ends up in the Tar River, it is critical that this water be protected.

Protecting and managing our stormwater can also have positive impacts on fishing, public health, drainage, agriculture, and the environment.  Providing this information to the public also helps the Town to meet certain Federal Government requirements for public education and outreach.  Funding for this project was obtained by a grant from the Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments and the NC Division of Water Quality.

By working together to protect our stormwater, we all can benefit.
