PUBLIC NOTICE - A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:00 pm in Town Council Chambers to receive public comments on the Street and Special Events Permit Application for the Children's Christmas Parade sponsored by the Nashville Chamber of Commerce.  The permit is requested for Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 2:30 pm until 6:00 pm and will impact traffic on W. Washington Street from Barnes Street to Alston Street.

At the August 7, 2018 Regular Town Council Meeting, the Town of Nashville Town Council declared certain personal property surplus and authorized for disposal by electronic auction.  From October 1, 2018 – October 12, 2018, surplus vehicles, equipment, and supplies will be sold via GovDeals, an online auction service provider, at Registration is required in order to bid and items are sold “as is, where is.” The acceptable methods of payment are cash, money order, and cashier’s check. The department offers numerous recreational opportunities throughout the year including day camps and family fitness nights. The goal of these programs is to provide entertainment and activities while promoting learning and healthy lifestyles. 

Walk With Ease Adult Walking Program

Walk With Ease is an adult walking program that anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to participate in.  It meets for 6 weeks, three times per week.  Each Session lasts about one hour.  The length of each session depends on how long the group decides to walk.  The program goal is to be completing a 30 minute walk by the end of the 6-week class.  Each session begins with a brief discussion on a topic important to successful walking management.  After the discussion, the group will warm up, stretch, walk, cool down and stretch one last time.  

We are currently registering for our summer class that begins on June 5 and meets every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-10 AM at Glover Park.

Adult Recreation Nights

Individuals 16 and up are welcome to participate in Adult Recreation Nights.  These will be held at the Nashville Elementary School Gym from 6:30-8:30.  Teams will be formed in a pick-up game fashion so come when you can and stay as long as you can.  Participants must sign a waiver to play and should wear athletic clothing and shoes. It is FREE to participate.

Family Fitness Fun Series

In cooperation with local businesses the department is offering the Free Family Fitness Fun Series.  This program is geared for people of ALL ages and abilities to come out and move together towards a healthier lifestyle, self and community.  We would like to thank Key Fitness of Nashville, Nashville Martial Arts Academy, Yoga by Kabryn, and Zumba with Dr. Tevis Harris and his HYPE crew for their participation in this program.  This program is offered every from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Nashville Elementary School Gym.

Open Gym

Individuals 16 and older are welcome to come and play pick-up basketball from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Nashville Elementary School Gym on Thursday Nights during June and July.  Games are played as pick-up, so come when you can and play as long as you like.  Individuals will have to sign a waiver to play, and should wear athletic shoes and athletic clothing to participate.  NOTE: There will be no play on Thursday, July 5.

Town of Nashville League Night at the Mudcats Opening Night

Join us for a night of family fun at Five County Stadium in Zebulon for the opening night of the Mudcats against the Winston-Salem Dash on April 5 @ 7:00 PM.  This is a fundraiser for our league.  Tickets are $7.00 for box seating and can be bought at the concession stand at Glover Park through Tuesday, April 3rd.  The more tickets we sell the more benefits we receive.  Their will be beverage specials and as always kids get to run the bases after the game.  So come on out and enjoy a baseball game with your friends and neighbors.
