The department offers many recreational opportunities during the year. This includes day camps and family fitness nights. Our goal is to provide fun and activities while promoting learning and healthy lifestyles.  

Karate

The department is now offering Karate. It is  free  for in town residents and $10 if you live outside of town. Classes will meet every Thursday in May, June and July (NOT July 4). The summer sessions of classes are full. .Contact the department with any questions. or for future dates. 

Adult Partner Dancing
Adult Partner dancing is for those 16 and older.  Registration is required. Classes are held at the Nashville Community Building on Alston Street.

Open Gym

Individuals 16 and older are welcome to come and play pick-up basketball from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Nashville Elementary School Gym on Tuesday and Thursdays nights. Games are played as pick-up, so come when you can and play as long as you like.  Individuals will have to sign a waiver to play, and should wear athletic shoes and athletic clothing to participate.

Family Fitness Fun Series

In cooperation with local businesses the department is offering the Free Family Fitness Fun Series.  This program is geared for people of ALL ages and abilities to come out and move together towards a healthier lifestyle, self and community

5K Training Program

Participants meet every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for 7-weeks at Glover Park to train.  You must be at least 16 years of age to participate.

Walk with Ease

Walk With Ease is an adult walking program that anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to participate in.  It meets for 6 weeks, three times per week.  Each Session lasts about one hour.  The length of each session depends on how long the group decides to walk.  The program goal is to be completing a 30 minute walk by the end of the 6-week class.  Each session begins with a brief discussion on a topic important to successful walking management.  After the discussion, the group will warm up, stretch, walk, cool down and stretch one last time.
