PUBLIC NOTICE - A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:00 pm in Town Council Chambers to receive public comments on the Street and Special Events Permit Application for the Children's Christmas Parade sponsored by the Nashville Chamber of Commerce.  The permit is requested for Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 2:30 pm until 6:00 pm and will impact traffic on W. Washington Street from Barnes Street to Alston Street.

At the August 7, 2018 Regular Town Council Meeting, the Town of Nashville Town Council declared certain personal property surplus and authorized for disposal by electronic auction.  From October 1, 2018 – October 12, 2018, surplus vehicles, equipment, and supplies will be sold via GovDeals, an online auction service provider, at Registration is required in order to bid and items are sold “as is, where is.” The acceptable methods of payment are cash, money order, and cashier’s check. Promotion to Purchasing Agent/Tax Collector for Melanie Bashore

Melanie Bashore has been recently appointed to the position of Purchasing Agent/Tax Collector. As the Purchasing Agent/Tax Collector, Melanie will oversee the collection of ad valorem taxes and the Town of Nashville's procurement process. She has been with the town since July of 2015. After graduating from East Carolina University (ECU) with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in May 2015, she took on the role of Accounting Technician. During her tenure as the Accounting Technician, Melanie’s responsibilities included Account Payable and Payroll. In 2016, Melanie began pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration with an anticipated graduation date of December 2018. Melanie has completed the Basic Principles of Local Government Purchasing course at the UNC School of Government  in pursuit of her certified Local Government Purchasing Officer (CLGPO) certification. She was sworn in as a Deputy Finance Officer by Mayor Donald Street in February 2018. When asked about her recent promotion, Melanie expressed excitement about this advancement opportunity in her career.
