Town Hires Planning and Development Director

The Town of Nashville is pleased to announce the appointment of Sherry Moss as its new Planning and Development Director. Mrs. Moss is presently employed by Vance County where she has served as their Special Projects Coordinator for the past three years. Since October 2019, Mrs. Moss has additionally served as their Interim Planning Director. Prior to her tenure with Vance County, Mrs. Moss served in various planning and zoning positions with both Granville County and the City of Henderson. In total, Mrs. Moss has fourteen years of experience in planning and community development and project management within local government. According to Town Manager Randy Lansing, Mrs. Moss’ work experience in planning and zoning administration is both extensive and well-rounded and has prepared her well to serve the Town of Nashville as its next Planning and Development Director.
A lifelong resident of North Carolina, Moss graduated from Shaw University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting and a Minor in Business Management. In 2016, Moss earned her Master of Arts in Public Administration – Public Policy from Liberty University. She also holds her certification as a Certified Zoning Officer through the North Carolina Association of Zoning Officials.
Mrs. Moss will begin her duties on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. “I am grateful and humbled by the opportunity to be the Town of Nashville’s Planning and Development Director. I look forward to working with my new colleagues, with a commitment to successfully serve Nashville’s residential and business communities,” Moss said.
Mrs. Moss currently resides in Warrenton with her husband and two children. She enjoys traveling and spending quality time with her family.
