The Town of Nashville is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Puckett as its  Chief of Police.   Mr. Puckett is  presently employed by the Town of Spring Hope where he has served as Police Chief for the past   five years.  Prior to his tenure in Spring Hope, Chief Puckett serves as a   law enforcement officer in various local agencies including Nash County, the City of Rocky Mount, and the Town of Wake Forest.   According to Interim Town Manager Leonard Barefoot, Chief Puckett's work experience in law enforcement is both extensive and well-rounded and has prepared him well to handle the rigors of managing a police department such as the one in Nashville. 

A   life long  native of Nash  County, Puckett graduated from Southern Nash High School in 1990 and served as   a Military Police Officer in the North Carolina National Guard during his early career. In addition to numerous law enforcement certifications he has earned, Chief Puckett also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in  Justice Studies at nearby Wesleyan College in 2007 and a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri in 2012, graduating Summa Cum Laude at both schools.  Chief Puckett is also certified  as a general instructor through the NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division and has served as an  adjunct professor with Nash Community College in its Criminal Justice curriculum. In 2017 Chief Puckett graduated from the prestigious FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. 

Chief Puckett, who was selected from a pool of twelve applicants, will begin his duties on Tuesday, June 18 at an annual salary of $64,584.  He is excited about joining Nashville's team of talented professionals and working for the citizens of Nashville. At the beginning of his career in 1994, he was initially sponsored by the Nashville Police Department for basic law enforcement training by then Chief Donald Skinner.  "I have great admiration and respect for Chief Skinner. To serve as police chief for the Town of Nashville has been a lifelong dream and I'm grateful for this opportunity, " Puckett said. 

 Chief Puckett has been married for 26 years to his wife, Deborah , and together they have one daughter, Samantha.
