Employment Opportunity – Deputy Town Clerk/Personnel Technician

The Town of Nashville is seeking a dependable individual to serve as Deputy Town Clerk/Personnel Technician. An employee in this class provides a variety of specialized tasks for the human resources, administrative, and Town Clerk functions. Work includes providing information to the public and employees, developing and maintaining sensitive records, coordinating various employee meetings, and providing back up for the Director. Work involves knowledge of the full range of departmental activities, extensive contact with employees and applicants to provide policy interpretation and assistance, and requires the ability to create and maintain sensitive records with a high degree of accuracy. Employees must exercise sound judgment, tact, and initiative in all contacts. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Town Clerk/Human Resources Director. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00 PM with some night work required. Hiring Salary Range: $31,878-$33,472.

Desirable Education and Experience

  • Graduation from a community college or university with a two-year associate degree in personnel, public administration, or related field, and considerable administrative or administrative support experience including experience in a Human Resources function; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to obtain certification as a Notary Public in North Carolina.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk.
  • Willing to attend courses and conferences to remain up to date on human resource administration principles, practices, laws, and regulations.
